RME have announced a new addition to their popular ADI range.  The new ADI-2 DAC concentrates solely on Digital/Analogue conversion of the highest quality in a small half 19” form factor unit and is ideal for audio professionals and audiophiles alike.

Thanks to a powerful DSP processor and RME’s SteadyClock FS technology for excellent jitter suppression, the ADI-2 DAC offers incredible Digital to Analogue conversion.  The ADI-2 DAC offers reference class conversion from SPDIF (Coax & Optical) and USB to Stereo Analogue output via RCA & XLR. The DAC also features both Headphone monitoring over TRS and In-Ear Monitoring output by way of min-TRS, both of which are exceptional quality.  The Headphone output caters for high-impedance studio headphones and features an Extreme Power output and the IEM port boasts “Super Low Noise” ideal for modern in-ear systems.  In addition RME have packed in an impressive amount of internal signal processing due to its internal DSP processor – these include a 5-Band parametric EQ & Analyser, bass/treble adjustment and Crossfeed Loudspeaker Simulation.

The SPDIF input signal can be recorded via USB, meaning the DAC also doubles up as a 2-channel USB audio interface that is Class Compliant, meaning no drivers or software are needed in order to work with your Mac or PC.  The ADI-2 DAC also features an intuitive display that not only allows users full control over display, function keys and volume but also features a cool AutoDark setting that turns all the lights on the display off after 10 seconds – a feature RME says was requested on the DAC’s predecessor.  The ADI-2 DAC also ships with one of the most sophisticated yet ergonomic remote which includes buttons for Standby On/Off, Input Selection (Optical/Coax/USB) & Mute.  In addition the remote offers users four programmable buttons that can be assigned with 20 different functions and commands for incredible flexibility to suit their preference.
