2023 sees the release of De-Esser Mk2 which ships with new solid aluminium-milled knobs for smooth control, a revamped black-anodised faceplate and overhauled PCB for improved specifications.

A New Approach To Phase Cancelling
Many modern ‘de-essing' tools employ traditional compression techniques to eliminate sibilants, often resulting in a more nasal sound to the finished vocal.

Thanks to SPL’s unique phase cancelling technology, DeEsser instead removes sibilance while letting adjacent frequencies breathe by monitoring a narrower bandwidth. This retains the vocal’s original timbre and allows the more natural character to shine.

Auto-Threshold tracking
Catering for vocalists with less consistent vocal techniques can be challenging when tracking artists live. For this purpose SPL have implemented an auto-threshold feature which ensures consistent dynamic processing throughout the performance, even during varying input levels.

Inline with SPL’s revered standard, the DeEsser combines intuitive user friendliness with exemplary sonic performance and lends surgical sibilant intelligence to any mix.

  • Removes unwanted sibilants with phase-cancelling technology
  • Leaving neighbouring frequencies untouched
  • User-friendly interface and operation
  • Impressive sonic performance
  • Auto-threshold function keeps processing consistent
