Sennheiser MK 8 Condenser Microphone
Professional Quality Dual-Diaphragm Condenser Microphone with Selecable Polar Patterns
Professional quality dual-diaphragm condenser microphone with five independant polar patterns for advanced home and studio recording. Two 1’’ diaphragms deliver warm and precise sound.
The Sennheiser MK 8 is a catch all beast of a microphone, equally adept as part of a home recording set up or when subjected to the rigours of professional recording. This multi-pattern condenser microphone is internally shock mounted and engineered from a dual diaphragm design, delivering the richness and transparency necessary for any recording application. The MK 8's three-mode attenuation filtering makes it exceptionally beneficial for combating the low-end muddiness of proximity effect when closing mic vocals.
The Sennheiser MK 8 delivers the full adaptability of a classic condenser microphone, thanks to a pair of gold-sputtered diaphragms. The MK 8 is equally capable at either end of the sonic spectrum, providing the open sound of its omnidirectional configuration and a figure 8 pattern. Three different cardioid patterns also offer varying degrees of directional isolation.
The 3-mode pad switch extends recording possibilities to excessively loud noise sources. Most of the time there’s no need to turn the pad switch on but when levels begin to increase the MK 8's -10dB and -20dB settings come into their own. A thundering drum line or subtle acoustic guitar intro are both comfortably within the MK 8’s remit.
Sennheiser built further adaptability into the MK 8 by equipping it with three filter settings. Low-frequency clutter can easily banished by activating the 18dB cut at 60Hz. A simpler, less boomy vocal can be achieved with the gentler 6dB rolloff at 100Hz. Alternatively, with the filters bypassed, the MK 8 delivers a wide-open sound with excellent bass response.
