Description

The EQP-1A is Manley’s innovative take on the Pultec EQ - only with extra frequencies that its predecessor lacked and a significantly improved power supply. Renowned Manley line amps complete the package. The EQ, available in both single and 2-channel versions, uses 1 x 12AX7WA and 1 x 6414 (or 5965) in their all-tube single-ended line amplifier.

Gain is factory set for unity but additional quantities are available from a rear mounted feedback adjustment trimpot. Manley's Pultecs provide both transformer coupled balanced and direct capacitor coupled unbalanced outputs for easy interface and aural variety, like their 40dB mic preamps.

The Manley Pultec EQP-1A enjoys the exact same sonic characteristics as its older forebear. Three transformers were used in the signal path of the original, while the EQP-1A has the capacity to be run completely transformerless. The Manley Enhanced Pultec also has a significantly improved B+ power supply, with regulated and balanced heater supply. The components of the Manley Enhanced Pultec EQP-1A just weren't available 20 years ago, they've been deployed to devastating effect without impacting on this gear's impeccable heritage.

The typical challenges presented by a heavy kick drum or brow-beating bass line are a walk in the park for the Manley Pultex EQP-1A. The enhanced EQ's low frequency boost and cut controls that sit in the low frequency shelf circuit make sure of it. Clarity and extension also come in equal parts with the middle bell-shaped boost dialling on the bandwidth control. The EQP-1A has a high frequency shelf cut as well.
