Rode announce their
first audio interface – AI-1

2.31Kviews

Rode Microphones have entered the fierce and competitive world of audio interfaces with their AI-1.  The AI-1, which stands for Audio Interface – 1, fits nicely into Rode’s existing range of high-quality but affordable microphones and accessories.  The AI-1 has a discrete Class-A single combo-input pre-amp used for either microphone or instrument input and features 48V phantom power to power your microphone.  A single knob cleverly controls the headphone amp and monitor output.  When the headphone jack is plugged in the AI-1 will automatically route the signal to the headphone amp and even has the option to turn on direct zero latency monitoring at the push of a button – especially handy when tracking vocals or instruments.  When the headphone jack is disconnected the signal routes back to the balanced ¼” jack outputs used for connecting studio monitors.

The AI-1 Complete Studio Kit ships with Rode’s NT1 large-diaphragm condenser microphone, a SMR shock mount with pop shield as well as a 20-foot XLR cable and USB-C to USB-A cable – everything you need for an entry level home-studio setup.  And for a limited time, owners of the AI-1 kit can even get a free copy of Ableton Live Lite software when they register on the Rode website, meaning you can start to record straight away.

The bus-powered USB-C connection makes the AI-1 fully future proof and ships with a USB-A cable to ensure that it is compatible with virtually every computer available today.  This too eliminates the need for an additional power supply.  The AI-1 is USB class compliant, meaning no drivers are necessary and it will work straight out of the box.

Featuring a cast aluminium chassis, the AI-1 is a compact, solid interface that sits nicely on your desktop and is the ideal first step into great sounding recording for the home studio or mobile studio.

The AI-1 Complete Studio Kit is expected to start shipping in January 2018 – click here for more info or to place an order.
