About Blackmagic HyperDeck Utility
Welcome to the HyperDeck software!
This utility updates your HyperDeck Studio Mini to the latest software release for new features, bug fixes and other enhancements. Adding H.264 recording and playback in all 720p and 1080p HD formats, as well as extending the RS-422 control protocol to include new advanced media protocol commands for appending clips, querying the timeline and clearing the timeline.
What’s new in HyperDeck Utility 6.0
Updates for HyperDeck Studio Mini including:
- H.264 codec for all 720p and 1080p display modes
- Extra media based commands for RS-422 control
- General performance and stability updates
No new features in 6.0 for other HyperDeck models.
Minimum system requirements for macOS
- macOS 10.13 High Sierra
- macOS 10.12 Sierra or later
- macOS 10.11 El Capitan
- USB 2.0 port for software updates
- An ethernet connection for controlling HyperDeck Studio models via the Blackmagic Design protocol
Minimum system requirements for Windows
- Microsoft Windows 10 64-bit
- Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit
- A suitable USB 2.0 port
- An ethernet connection for controlling HyperDeck Studio models via the Blackmagic Design protocol
For capture support:
- Thunderbolt computer for HyperDeck Studio Pro Desktop Video Support
- 4 GB of system memory
Installing HyperDeck Utility
Before installing the software, we recommend that you run “Uninstall HyperDeck” first.
The HyperDeck installer package installs:

If you have installed the drivers prior to installing any of these applications, we recommend that you uninstall and reinstall the drivers. This will ensure that all relevant components are installed in their required locations.
