Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio Pro 2
Advanced SSD recorder with 6G-SDI, HDMI 4K, analog, Thunderbolt and 4K support.
HyperDeck Studio Pro records 4:2:2 SD/HD in full uncompressed quality plus Ultra HD in ProRes. Use ProRes 422 (HQ) or DNxHD compression for high quality HD video in file sizes that provide 5 times longer recording than uncompressed. For even longer recording use ProRes 422, ProRes 422 (LT) and ProRes 422 (Proxy). HyperDeck Studio Pro features 6G-SDI, HDMI 4K and analog component connections, plus professional XLR audio and built in Thunderbolt connectivity.
The Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio Pro 2 is a file-based deck that features near identical levels of functionality and control as one would expect from a professional tape deck. It records uncompressed video with 4:2:2 colour sampling at 10-bit in .mov format, using either ProRes or DNxHD codecs. Capture almost endlessly with two SSD slots. As one becomes full recording will intuitively swap on to the other. The Blackmagic Design Studio Pro also includes one 6G-SDI input and output for 4K signals and three SD/HD/3G-SDI inputs and outputs. As well as supporting Ultra HD 4K via HDMI, the HyperDeck also features analogue component in and out, with analogue audio in and out and timecode in and out.
A 1RU rack mountable unit, the Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio Pro 2 has built-in rack mount ears. It features a jog/shuttle wheel for analogue scrubbing and an illuminated front panel button control. RS-422 control is also supplied for external control. Furthermore, you can control the unit using either the USB port or over ethernet via the RJ45 connector.
An integrated LCD on the front panel enables the monitoring video and also displays timecode and transport information. In addition, the unit incorporates a Thunderbolt port, for connecting the HyperDeck Studio Pro 2 to a computer. This built-in port allows you to connect the unit independent of the SSD drives, so it’s possible to record to an SSD in the unit while simultaneously feeding a computer via Thunderbolt. You can also play back from a computer over Thunderbolt into the unit and the signal will be available via the SDI or HDMI outputs.
The HypeDeck Studio Pro 2 records to uncompressed Quicktime at 10-bit with 4:2:2 colour sampling. It also records to ProRes 422(HQ), ProRes 422, ProRes 422 (LT), ProRes 422 (Proxy), as well as Avid DNxHD and Avid DNxHD MXF. The Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Studio Pro 2 supports SD, HD and 3G signals over SDI and HDMI. In addition to NTSC and PAL signals, 720 x 480p and 720 x 576p signals are supported over HDMI, while 4K video is supported via 6G-SDI and HDMI.
Continuous SSD Recording
HyperDeck Studio’s single rack unit size fits easily into any equipment rack, flyaway kit or OB vehicle, and is great if you want to record or play back with live production switchers. With dual SSD slots you get unlimited duration recording, when a record disk fills then recording will automatically continue on to the next disk. Now you can record an entire event without missing a thing! HyperDeck Studio Pro also includes a Thunderbolt connection so you can capture directly into a computer or master to SSD! With uncompressed, ProRes and DNxHD video formats HyperDeck Studio is the broadcast deck for the 21st century!
Professional Video Connections
HyperDeck Studio includes the highest quality 3G-SDI and HDMI connections, so you can connect to virtually any camera, monitor or SDI router. Connect your camera’s HDMI or SDI output and record the highest 10-bit uncompressed video, bypassing compression formats that cameras use to reduce file size. HyperDeck Studio’s HDMI output is perfect for connecting to monitors and projectors. HyperDeck Studio Pro includes analog component video and XLR audio connections, plus 6G-SDI for high bandwidth SDI formats and HDMI 4K for monitoring on the latest Ultra HD televisions!
Familiar VTR Controls
HyperDeck Studio features a familiar VTR style design and includes illuminated crystal buttons, a jog/shuttle wheel and RS-422 for external control. The integrated high resolution LCD screen displays timecode and transport information, plus a full color thumbnail preview of the current clip in record or playback. You can also see video format and frame rate information, as well as audio levels, all on the same display!
Fast SSD Technology
HyperDeck Studio uses 2.5″ solid state disks (SSDs) for reliable, fast video recording. Now you can eliminate complicated and expensive disk arrays, as a single SSD lets you record either compressed or uncompressed video effortlessly! You can even edit direct from the disk! SSDs are extremely robust because they have no moving parts and can handle shocks and vibrations that would destroy conventional hard drives or videotapes. Other removable media cards simply cannot match the level of performance and incredibly fast read/write speed of SSDs.
