Product Description

The Universal Audio Apollo 16 mkII is a professional Thunderbolt 2 audio interface for Mac and the flagship interface from the new Apollo range.  The new Apollo 16 provides all the clarity and depth we have come to expect from UA interfaces but coupled with some cutting-edge technologies and powerful features; a true audio powerhouse.

While the Apollo 16 lacks onboard microphone preamps like its smaller siblings, the Apollo 8 and 8p, it makes up for it with the inclusion of connection options that allow for easy integration into professional studios.  The Apollo 16 has 16 analogue inputs and outputs on DB25 D-Sub connections which make hooking up the console and interface a breeze.  The interface comes with console control software, further streamlining its use with mixing desks.  There is also a stereo monitor output on XLR connectors, two channels of AES/EBU I/O on XLR and word clock on coaxial.  A second Thunderbolt 2 connection at the rear of the Apollo 16 allows for any four Apollo interfaces to be daisy-chained, combining both their processing power and I/O capabilities.

The Universal Audio Apollo 16 - UAD-2 QUAD Processing

The four SHARC processors contained with the UAD-2 QUAD allows for realtime UAD processing and enables the user to harness the UAD-powered plugins.  The Universal Audio Apollo 16 also features ‘next-generation’ conversion, allowing for seamless transitions to and from the analogue and digital realms.

In addition to the simple D-Sub connectivity and UAD processing, the Apollo 16 features tri-coloured 10 segment LED I/O metering, independent master level control, digitally controlled analogue monitor outputs, assignable stereo monitor outputs and the digital AES/EBU outputs can be set to mirror the analogue monitor outputs.
