RedNet 3 interfaces your existing digital audio systems and components to the RedNet network, with up to 32 inputs and outputs and full software remote control. The unit includes support for AES/EBU, S/PDIF and ADAT (16 ADAT optical ports support 32 digital channels in and out – even at 96kHz, with S-MUX2) digital audio formats and allows the RedNet system to be synchronised to incoming signal clock or a word clock source.

RedNet is Focusrite’s new flagship range of Ethernet-networked studio interfaces, based around the tried and tested Dante Ethernet audio networking system from Australian company Audinate. Focusrite’s RedNet is the first to offer IP network audio interfaces for the recording studio – or any application that requires moving high quality audio around with ultra-low latency.

RedNet 3 can be used simply as a means of converting 32 channels of audio and delivering it somewhere else on the network at near-zero latency. If you need to connect RedNet 3 to your computer there are three methods:

  • The RedNet PCIe card for Core Audio and ASIO applications such as Logic and Nuendo
  • RedNet 5 for Pro Tools HD, Pro Tools HDX and Pro Tools HD Native via DigiLink connectors
  • Directly to your computer’s Ethernet port using a standard Ethernet cable (and “Dante Virtual Soundcard”)

Features

Pristine audio quality with low latency: RedNet stands up to the sonic demands of the professional studio with 120dB dynamic range and less than 3ms latency at any sample rate when using the RedNet PCIe card

Robust and reliable networked audio system: Dante is a tried and tested audio networking standard, endorsed by companies like Yamaha, and by Britannia Row, who rely on it for major live events on a regular basis

Professional networked audio system: With 24-bit operation at up to 192kHz sampling and JetPLLTM jitter-reduction technology, RedNet is a professional studio system supporting the needs of any studio

Easiest studio configuration – ever: Interfaces can be hot-swapped anytime and controlled remotely via the included RedNet control software.

Supports any open DAW package: No need to spend hours learning a new platform – RedNet supports Pro Tools 9, Logic, Nuendo or any other open DAW running on Mac and Windows computers

Connectivity

  •  ADAT Optical inputs 1 – 8 via TOSLINK optical connectors: Each connector supports 8 channels at 44.1 or 48k, 4 channels at 96k (S-MUX2), and 2 channels at 192kHz (S-MUX4)*
  • ADAT Optical outputs 1 – 8 via TOSLINK optical connectors: Each connector supports 8 channels at 44.1 or 48k, 4 channels at 96k (S-MUX2), and 2 channels at 192kHz (S-MUX4)*
  • AES/EBU inputs and outputs 1 – 8 via DB25 connector (replaces port one of the ADAT inputs when in use)
  • S/PDIF input 1 – 2 via coaxial port (replaces one AES bank when in use)
