About us

Richard Eastwood founded GearBox with his wife and partner Louise in 1997. He built and run the company as Managing Director up until March 2009 achieving an annual turnover of nearly £5M.

In the 12 years of doing so, he established GearBox as the de-facto supply company for sales, support and rental to audio and video professionals alike.

As well as having supplied most of the Soho facilities and rental companies, Richard equipped over 200 feature film productions with a combination of Avid and Digidesign Pro Tools systems to major film dubbing theatres including Anvil Technicolor, Ardmore Sound, Bang Post Production, De Lane Lea, Goldcrest Post Production, Pepper Post, Pinewood Shepperton Group, Twickenham Film Studios plus numerous post facilities including Hackenbacker, Reel Sound, Sound 24, Soundelux London and many more.

Richard continually supervised and managed the supply of equipment and ongoing support for all of these major UK facilities and in many cases often specified the equipment from conception through to final mix and dubbing.

In forming Eastwood (Sound and Vision) Ltd, Richard and the team continue to supply major Outside Broadcast and TV facilities where he left off with Sony Broadcast rental equipment including HDCAM and HDCAM SR, Digi Beta and other ancillary equipment.

Past and present clients include Arena Television, BBC Outside Broadcast, Bow Tie Television, CTV Outside Broadcast, Input Media, NEP Visions, Omni TV, SIS Live and Telegenic.

Richard is proud to have built up a trusting and professional working relationship with countless post supervisors, sound designers and sound supervisors, studio managers and freelance editors and regards these well versed professionals as personal friends as well as industry colleagues.
